“My approach to diary comics is not confessional. It's about capturing moments like snapshots - photos that couldn't be taken. I'm interested in the tiny intimacies that range from sweet and silly to absurd…Drawing diary comics is a meditative practice that differs from long-form memoir work mainly because I'm not crafting a narrative with hindsight. As I draw, I don't know where the story of our lives is going, which is why I tend to zoom in on the particulars of a scene…This is a collection of little moments, but they're also the moments that show the bigger picture: that small acts of kindness and connection are what transform a life.”
